Busy, busy, busy.......

These are the little creatures that we watched for a week while our friends were out of town and I just don't understand why people have them as pets. Anyone????? The girls had a great time and they are as sweet as can be but they really serve no purpose whatsoever besides eating the rotting vegetables in the fridge. MMMMMM




Our whole weather forecast all last week was so great and we were at the lake every day almost. We have this great park right next to the water that is about 15 min from the house and it's just so great for the day because when you get done with the water there is a huge play area and swings, tons of picnic tables and shade, and great bathroom facilities. All within a short drive so still able to make it home for naps and dinner. I can't tell if that makes this weeks crappy weather better or worse now that we have had a dose of summer time.

Grace is so close to full on swimming that I am sure by the end of the summer she will be a fish. Last summer we got her to go about halfway across the pool without floaties on and she did ok. Because it's cold lake water and her mama isn't crazy enough to be swimming this early she had to keep her arm floaties on but she is sooo ready. Our neighborhood swimming pool opens in a couple of weeks and we are thinking of doing morning swim lessons. We'll see, it's so much fun watching the changes they make every year.

Haylee never got past this point, she kept turning around and running out like "NO WAY am I getting in that water.........you guys are crazy"

Shall we build a sandcastle instead?????

Later on after all of the sunshine we had the perfect evenings for fires out on the deck. The girls were getting all excited when Justin (the boy scout) would put lighter fluid on the flames to get it burning better, one time Grace actually was trying to do it herself.....yeah I know.....wow! Justin was a little frustrated with the fire and was going on and on about how it was the wood being wet and he is an Eagle Scout and learned all of this so long ago, he's no rookie to starting fires. So I ask you....above is before lighter fluid.

Then we went to the Highland Games festival for the second year in a row. They had it at Pioneer Park and inside the park they still have a town like set up of old buildings that are used like museums now.

"Pioneer Park represents one of the finest collections of original pioneer log cabins and artifacts in the world. The twelve log cabins sat alone in forests and rough clearings at locations throughout Whatcom County. Over the course of several decades the cabins were moved to the park by members of the Old Settlers Association, Ferndale Heritage Society and city to save them from destruction. One of the oldest buildings in the park, the Church, is a popular location for small weddings. Each cabin serves as a museum, packed with artifacts from around Whatcom County predating World War II." The teacher was telling us some of the rules and it was a little strange to hear about how many lashings you got for talking and fighting. Boys and girls were not even allowed to interact with one another. Didn't see many teens getting pregnant back then I bet. ;) There are just some really neat things to see, Justin and I need to go back without the girls so we can really read and look. They just want to touch and don't understand the importance of it yet.

We were talking about how thankful we are that we have saved newspapers from 9/11 and the war, what a great thing to hold on to.

Here is Grace's favorite part, the Scottish dancers. They are so quick and light on their feet it's very entertaining. They start very young too so there are some really little girls that are so good.

So that was the exciting last weekend that we had. Always an adventure going on, never a dull moment. We are getting pumped for camping and of course Vegas in three weeks.....yeah!! A real vacation with my hubby. Summer saga continues.......
