Halloween 2014

After the busyness of the wedding it felt like October flew by.  We were rushing to clean up leaves (soooo many leaves) and getting all the fall festivities in.  The kids did darling pumpkins this year and Grace does a phenomenal job with hers.  It gets more elaborate every year and I will tell you she has zero help from us.  Hers is the Minnie mouse and it was only fitting because she and Paige were dressing up as her this year too. :)

Halloween also brought with it a big medical event happening in the Ellersick family.  Transplant day for Mike was set for Halloween.  He had radiation the week or so leading up to the transplant day so he wasn't feeling too well on the actual day but he had some fun visitors and a special gift that let him know we were all praying for him and sending our love from afar.

The 3 amigos that came to keep the mood light and to keep Mike's spirits up.  I honestly can say that he enjoyed these guys so much and would always love a chance to laugh and catch up.  From the earliest days I remember going to the lake with the family I can still picture the laughing and late hour chats that ensued. This was a tight group of siblings and the love was not lost during this time especially.  Also considering both brothers were a perfect match for the bone morrow which is incredible and one graciously gave it and took time out of his life to come stay in Seattle and help his little brother out.

Wendy ordered a fun blanket for Mike that had the most recent picture of all the grandkids on it.  It was warm and fuzzy and was supposed to be for his birthday but we wanted him to have it going in for the transplant so he knew the kiddos were thinking of their sweet Grandpa the whole time.

He loved it and got choked up.  It was already hard for him to talk with the radiation they had done and the sores all down his throat.

Meanwhile back home Paige's little friends did the high school trick or treat through the halls.  It's pretty cute to see the big kids come out and hand out candy to all the little toddlers roaming around.  I think stuff like this in high schools is good!

Paul, Whitney and Zoey went to spend the holiday with Mike and Bonnie in Seattle.  I'm sure it was good for them to have some cute company to distract from the hospital day to day!

Halloween was D day for the transplant.  Stem cells went in and that marks day 1 of a whole new DNA system.  It really is crazy what they can do now.

We made rice bags for everyone in material they picked out, so easy and fun!

The kids made one for Mike too for his birthday coming up.. Super hero themed since he's basically turning into a brand new identity.  The symptoms are not great going forward and could get really bad so having some things to comfort him and make feel loved is the goal.
